SWEETHEART/BITTER HEART is an exploration of the juxtaposition of environmental decline and relationship anxiety — paired with Valentine’s Day party games for the romance-averse. The show, as part of Asheville Fringe Arts Festival, is a co-bill with OKAPI, who will perform “Carousel (part II).”

Three shows: Thursday, Jan. 23, at 9 pm.; Friday, Jan. 24, at 5 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 25, 9 p.m. at Sly Grog Lounge, 271 Haywood St., Asheville.

POETRY READING: The Pioneering Women of Black Mountain College: Looking Back + Looking Forward — Mildred Barya, Melanie McGee-Bianchi, Alli Marshall, and Brit Washburn read some of their own poems and some by their favorite women poets and artists of Black Mountain College. Organized by writer and teacher Eric Steineger.

Saturday, March 21, at 7 p.m. at Black MOuntain College Museum + Arts Center, 120 College St., Asheville. Free for BMCM+AC members and students with ID/$8 non-members. Info here.
