As the Buncombe County Region Rep for North Carolina Writers’ Network, I host a monthly writers’ meetup at the Battery Park Book Exchange & Champagne Bar (Grove Arcade, 1 Page Ave., Asheville). The group meets the first Wednesday of each month, 6-7:30 p.m. Networking, speakers and quarterly open mic readings. All interested writers are welcome, and the gathering is free.
• April 19-23 — Asheville Wordfest returns and the Literary Circus will be there, doing circus-y feats of literary daring. Details TBA.
• Friday, April 28, 6:30-8 p.m. — I’ll be presenting as part of Object as Poet at the Center for Craft, Creativity and Design. Writers, crafters and visual artists were teamed up to create (in just 11 days!) new collaborative work inspired by exhibit The Good Making of Good Things: Craft Horizons Magazine, 1941-1979. The event is free to attend, but you must RSVP here.
• Saturday, May 6, 7-9 p.m. — The Literary Circus presents a night of spoken word feats plus a hosted open mic, with music by Vickie Burick, at Habitat Tavern & Commons. Details here.
• Saturday, June 10 — The Literary Circus reads, recites, juggles flaming chainsaws, and sells bookish things as part of Asheville Art in the Park.
