One night only

One night only

Reading as part of the “Listen To This: Stories in Performance” series, hosted by Tom Chalmers. The theme was “It’s OK, I’m with the band,” and I got to read an except of How to Talk to Rockstars — onstage at The Orange Peel! With a backing band (Rond). A truly surreal and wonderful moment. Photos by Michael Selverne.

@dukeofwhoknowswhere played this gorgeous song on air for the new @storyparloravl hour on @wpvm. And I got a front row seat.
"The Reclaimed Hymnal" was written after a ukulele crafted by the wood artist Zeke Leonard. These are his scrap-wood ukuleles, pictured.
"Nuclear Family," from the collection Snapshots of my Imaginary Family.
"The Last Raccoon," a piece that has almost certainly never been performed out loud. One of ever so many animal poems.
"Advanced Alchemy," a spoken word piece created to capture the eerie, barren magic of early winter.
"Fable,'" another from my collection of animal poems called MEGAFAUNA. This time of year, folklore feels especially evocative to me. This piece is inspired by a rabbit fable from India.
